The Purple One commissioned the musical instrument – a mashup of a tambourine and a pair of maracas – in 1992. It featured a bright yellow hexagon shape inset with a purple variation on his love symbol, which he used as the title of his album that year and, soon after, adopted as his own name.
Paisley Park has remanufactured Prince's tamboracca, a hybrid tambourine/maraca he sold at his club and store in 1992. An original tamboracca sold for $290 on eBay in December, while the new ones will cost $80.

At the time, Warner Bros. sent tamboraccas out to press as a promotional item, while Prince also sold them directly to fans through his then-active club, store and 800 number. The instrument has since become a much sought-after piece of memorabilia, with one selling on eBay in December for $290.
The new version was faithfully recreated from the Paisley Park archives and is being sold as limited-edition piece priced at $80 plus shipping. Those interested in ordering one are asked to email for details.
