Prince demolishes his Chanhassen [Galpin Blvd] house

Prince has demolished his primary residence in Chanhassen.

"I know somebody obtained a demolition permit," Chanhassen building official Steve Torell said Monday. "I saw [the house] earlier last week. I wasn't here Friday, so I don't know if it's down or not, yet. It is tough to see back there."

Sunday I could not see the house but did notice construction vehicles on the property. I went to check it out after receiving this anonymous e-mail on Saturday: "What purple wonder multimillionaire is destroying his current home to build a new house. What purple wonder decided to fire his entire security staff (due to the construction) with no notice and paid not one thin dime of severance, as we enter the holidays!" The e-mail claims some of those fired have worked for Prince for 20 years. That's hard to believe, because he doesn't keep people around that long.

Another claim is not borne out by city records. Torell said no permit had been taken out to build another home there.

In spring 2003, Prince demolished another Chanhassen property, the famous Purple House on Lake Riley, where he once lived and where his father, John L. Nelson, lived out his final days.

The demolition of the primary residence is probably not that unexpected, given how fast Chanhassen is growing.

Where once there was no development near the property, Prince can run across more neighbors and lots more traffic between there and Paisley Park, which is still standing.

Pour la petite histoire, Prince aurait demandé la construction d'un moulin à vent sur son terrain aprés en avoir vu en Hollande pendant le Parade Tour.
pense bien et tout ira bien.

A representative for Prince has confirmed the pop superstar has avoided foreclosure on his Minnesota estate by paying off his mortgage bill in full.

The "Purple Rain" hitmaker, Prince owns 20 acres of land in Chanhassen, Minnesota, where one of his many homes once stood before it was torn down in 2005.

The land reportedly fell into foreclosure after the star allegedly failed to keep up with mortgage payments and the local Carver County Sheriff's Office scheduled an auction to sell it off to pay the alleged $368,000 (GBP230,000) mortgage bill, according to Minneapolis' StarTribune. A foreclosure notice is said to have been posted in a local newspaper.

But a representative for Prince has now confirmed steps have been taken to resolve the situation, telling the StarTribune a "payment has been made" to the bank for the full amount "about four or five days ago".

The foreclosure proceedings involving a Chanhassen property owned by music icon Prince have been canceled, according to a Carver County official.

A May 13 sheriff sale of Prince's land at 7141 Galpin Boulevard in Chanhassen had previously been set, according to a Carver County official.

According to a foreclosure notice in the Chaska Herald, the original amount of the mortgage for Prince R. Nelson was $605,000 in 1994. The amount due on the mortgage is $368,382.
